Production Notes - "MastoDon (Reamp & Remix)"
I was on a roll after doing the guitars for "Family Tree" and asked my GuitarWar buddy Don Madison if he'd be interested in letting me take a crack at reamping the guitars for his Mastodon-style YouTube project before starting afresh. Don is Mr. Consistency; he changes gear a bit now and then, but for the most part his tone hasn't changed since Y2K! This was a first time for Don, and he wasn't really set up for reamping but he did his best and sent me a suite of not-quite DI guitars recorded through a cleanish Zoom along with some very well-programmed drums. Although this was a bit unorthodox, the Elektron Analog Drive helped with the pickup revoicing and I ended up using the Diezel patch again - it can't be beat! As a work-in-progress it didn't have any bass at that point, so I added some in piano roll view with the help of Melodyne's guitar transcription. Turned out great!

7/6/18: My long-awaited REVV G3 pedal came in, so I reamped the track again! Absolutely fantastic pedal, and very similar sounding to my Diezel-based Kemper patch. For the REVV remix, I'm using the Kemper for the tonestack and cab only - NO AMP.
Watch Don play the track as a video overdub here! The soundtrack syncs up almost perfectly :D
